U and I Ferrite Cores

Epcos AG produces 6 standard sizes of large U- and I-configured large ferrite cores made from power ferrite brands N27, N87, N97. High saturation induction combined with a high value of Curie temperature and with low losses of ferrite materials permits to efficiently use U- and I-configured cores as magnetic circuits of high-capacity power, pulse and high-voltage transformers for kW power range.

The most used combinations of U- and I-configured ferrite cores are shown in figures 1 – 3. In some cases for obtaining composite magnetic circuits of increased power, combination of U-shaped U-configured core and I-configured plated connected in column, is used.
