MSSN nanocrystalline cores with a rectangular hysteresis loop

Toroidal MSSN cores made of thin (25 ± 5 µm) Fe-based nanocrystalline ribbon represent a new class of products with unique properties. They complement the range of existing saturable cores made of Co-based amorphous alloy, traditionally used for high-quality multi-channel power supplies on the base of magnetic amplifiers.

Thanks to a careful selection of materials composition and the thermomagnetic processing modes, it was possible to achieve improved magnetic properties at high (up to 300 kHz) operating frequencies (coercitive force and losses are close to the characteristics of Co-based amorphous alloys) in combination with a very high saturation induction - 1.2 T (typical value for Fe-based alloys). In addition, a new soft magnetic material with square hysteresis loop has very high squareness ratio. Its thermal stability and increased operating temperatures (up to 120 °C) are higher in comparance with amorphous materials. The specific properties of new materials contribute to the reliability of magnetic amplifiers circuits, their performance improving and minimizing of size.

MSSN cores application: Magnetic amplifiers for SMPS, magnetic amplifiers for DC/DC converters, computer power supplies, pulse transformers.
