MSTAN cores for audio systems

MSTAN series are made of nanocrystalline Fe-based alloy (AMAG-200С). Among distinctive features of such cores one can note: saturation induction 1.2 T, high initial permeability (up to 70 000), narrow hysteresis loop, low losses, a weak dependence of magnetic permeability on temperature and on induction amplitude, linear hysteresis loop. A typical difference of initial permeability from the maximum is 15%.

Cores are produced in two design variants – in a plastic container (MSTAN-TH) and coated with paint (MSTANM-TH). The products are used in transformers of audio systems for various purposes: input, interstage, output, phase inverters, etc. The using of MSTAN-TH series magnetic cores in audio transformers allows to obtain high values ​​of the inductance of the primary winding (several hundred henry) and impedance preserving at the same time a small number of turns of the windings. A high inductance in combination with a linear hysteresis loop can dramatically reduce the distortion effect in the low-frequency region and expand the frequency range.

Configuration

1. MSTAN-TH. A wound core is placed in a rigid protective container made of glass-filled polyamide and mechanically fixed with silicone sealant. The container has rounded edges and is designed for direct application of the winding with a thick wire. The container provides a reliable mechanical protection of the nanocrystalline material and its properties saving.

2. MSTANM-TH. In order to fix a shape and to provide a mechanical protection of the nanocrystalline material, epoxy-based paint is used. Coating with a paint reduces the final dimensions of cores, but also debases the parameters and mechanical strength. Manufacturing capability must be agreed with the manufacturer. Temperature range is from -40 up to 85°C for products of general use. All materials comply with UL94V-1/0.
